On November 16, 2015, the conclusion meeting of the mega project on drug discovery relative to the Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL) was held in Zhangjiang, Shanghai. Thirty-eight delegates representing the CNCL core facility, six satellite libraries, institutions that are participating in the proposed “regional resource centers” and Inforstack Shanghai Co., Ltd. attended the meeting. Deputy Director Xiaohui He and Associate Professor Jing Zhang of the Development Center for Medical Science and Technology, National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People's Republic of China, were present.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Ming-Wei Wang, Director of CNCL. After a brief introduction, Dr. Wang reported the overall achievements of this mega project. He was followed by Professor Jingrong Cui (School of Pharmacy, Peking University), Assistant Professor Feng Wang (Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing), Associate Professor Tao Pang (the Drug Screening Center of China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing), Deputy State Key Laboratory Director Chuan Li (Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Vice President Wanhong Xu (Hangzhou High-throughput Drug Screening Center), who reported their respective progresses made during the project execution period. Professor Junhai Xiao (Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, PLA Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Beijing) provided a written report which was distributed among the audience. Deputy Director Xiaohui He then made some encouraging remarks and gave several suggestions about the future direction CNCL.
Following a simple working lunch, Professor Shuyi Si (Institute of Medicinal Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences), Dr. Haotian Zhang (College of Life Sciences and Biopharmaceuticals, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University), Professor Yongzhou Hu (College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou), Ms. Ruiqiu Sun (Tianjin International Joint Academy of Biomedicine), Associate Professor Qiong Gu (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou), Professor Qinshi Zhao (Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Professor Richard D. Ye (University of Macau) reported their respective progresses in establishing “regional resource centers” in their geographical areas. Thereafter, Ms. Xaioyan Du of the National Center for Drug Screening provided the guidelines as to the mega project-related accounting and audit and Mr. Jun Gao of Inforstack Shanghai Co., Ltd. gave a brief account about the current status of the online resource sharing network and its passage to wireless access.
Finally, Dr. Ming-Wei Wang summarized the meeting outcomes, provided answers and explanations to the questions raised by the attendants before arrangement of unfinished tasks.
