On October 15, 2019, Professor Alan Cowman (Deputy Director, Fellow of the Royal Society, U.K. and Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science), Dr. Justin Boddey (Laboratory Head, Infection and Immunity) and Mr. Haoyu Yang (Graduate Student) from Walter+Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI, Melbourne, Australia) visited the Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL) and School of Pharmacy, Fudan University, respectively. They were warmly received by Drs. Ming-Wei Wang (Director of the National Center for Drug Screening/Chinese National Compound Library and Dean of School of Pharmacy, Fudan University) and Dehua Yang (Professor of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences). During the visit, Professor Cowman delivered an invited lecture entitled “The function of proteins required for invasion of human erythrocytes by Plasmodium falciparum parasites” and had a roundtable discussion with scientists and graduate students. Drs. Qi Zheng (Associate Professor), Bing Jiang (Assistant Professor), Yufen Wei (Assistant Professor), Meng Yin (Assistant Professor) and Ms. Htet Htet Win (Burmese) from National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention as well as Dr. Chuya Niu (Research Associate) of Global Health Drug Discovery Institute in Beijing (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, U.S.A.) participated in the event.
