On March 18, 2017, Professor Ada Yonath, 2009 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and Professor at the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel), visited School of Pharmacy, Fudan University. She was warmly received by Dr. Ming-Wei Wang (Dean) and his associates. Following a brief introduction about the school, this world renowned structure biologist had a roundtable discussion with 30 or so undergraduate and graduate students as well as young faculty members. She answered each and every question raised by the audience who were deeply impressed and greatly touched by her grown-up experiences, passion for science, love to the younger generation and feelings about China after multiple visits. Accompanied by Dr. Wang, she then toured the Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL) and had an interactive lunch with about 10 student representatives at the 3rd floor board room of CNCL. An inspiring lecture entitled “A bright future for antibiotics, environmental issues and the microbiome” was delivered by Professor Yonath in the afternoon to more than 100 attendants who enthusiastically reacted to her messages.
