On August 18, 2016, “New Phase of Development Roundtable Discussion” of the Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL) was held in Zhangjiang, Shanghai. This meeting was organized by the National Center for Drug Screening and delegates representing 17 institutions across China that participate in CNCL construction and operations attended the event.

The meeting was chaired by Professor Ming-Wei Wang, Director of CNCL. He briefed the attendants with the development trend and competitive situation of the resource platform relative to China’s major drug discovery efforts in the 13th “Five-year economic and social development plan” period. Professor Junhai Xiao (Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, PLA Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Beijing), Associate Professor Mingzhen Liu (School of Pharmacy, Peking University，Assistant Professor), Assistant Professor Feng Wang (Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing), Professor Luyong Zhang and Associate Professor Tao Pang (the Drug Screening Center of China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing), Deputy Division Chief Chuan Li (Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai), Director Wei Tang (Acea Biosciences Co., Ltd., Hangzhou), Associate Professor Xin Li (College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou), Associate Professor Min Li (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou), Ms. Ruiqiu Sun (Tianjin International Joint Academy of Biomedicine, Tianjin), Dr. Haotian Zhang (College of Life Sciences and Biopharmaceuticals, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang), Assistant Professor Minhua Chen (Institute of Medicinal Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing), Professor Qinshi Zhao and Engineer Shuxi Jing (Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Kunming), Professor Yonghong Liu (South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou), Assistant Dean Yu Liu and Associate Professor Chun Lei (School of Pharmacy, Fudan University, Shanghai), Professor Fajun Nan, Professor Jianmin Yue, Senior Engineer Yingyan Jiang, Senior Engineer Jia Wang and Assistant Professor Minzhi Fang of CNCL, among others, spent more than 3 hours discussing the above topics. They offered their views and suggestions as to continuing the implementation of a national strategy by integrating each other’s strength, promptly adapting the new trends and promoting the further development of CNCL. New requirements concerning the improvement of internet+ based public resources and technical service capabilities were raised to Mr. Jun Gao and Mr. Lei Wan (Inforstack Shanghai Co., Ltd.) during the discussion.
