Griffith University and SIMM execute a strategic collaboration agreement

Professor Ian O’Connor (President) of Griffith University and Professor Yang Ye (Deputy Director) of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM), Chinese Academy of Sciences, executed a strategic collaboration agreement on behalf of their respective institution in the morning of September 7, 2015 at Brisbane, Australia. This signifies that the existing bilateral cooperative relationship between the two organizations is entering into a new phase. Present in the signing ceremony and prior roundtable discussion were Drs. Jian Ding (Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering), Meiyu Geng (Deputy Director), Ming-Wei Wang (Center Director) and Min He (Division Chief) representing SIMM, and Drs. Debra Henly (Pro Vice-Chancellor/Sciences), Sarah Todd (Pro Vice-Chancellor/International), Karen Morgan (International Relations Officer/Agreements), Robert Sang (Head of School of Natural Sciences), Jeremy C. Brownlie (Deputy Head of School of Natural Sciences), Qing-Long Han (Deputy Dean/Research), George D. Mellick (Deputy Director of Eskitis Institute for Drug Discovery) and Yunjiang Feng (Research Fellow, Natural Product Drug Discovery) representing Griffith University, among others. Thereafter, the SIMM delegates visited ‘Compounds Australia’ located in the Eskitis Institute for Drug Discovery and received a warm reception by Professor George Mellick, Dr. Derek Kennedy (Program Leader, Cancer Biology), Ms. Moana Simpson (Manager of the compound library) and their associates.
