March 14, 2012 (Shanghai) - The world renowned analytical instrument manufacturer, Agilent Technologies announced today that its President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. William P. (Bill) Sullivan, paid a visit during his current China trip to the newly opened Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL), located at the heart of Shanghai Zhangjiang High-tech Park. Together with Mr. Jianjun Cheng, Deputy Director of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mr. Jing Hou, Deputy Director of Shanghai Zhangjiang INNOPARK Administrative Committee and Mr. Huo Feng, Vice President and General Manager of Great China Area of Agilent, he unveiled the plate of the "CNCL-Agilent Advanced Technology Collaboration Laboratory”.
Accompanied by Mr. Xiangdong Fu, Vice President in charge of Corporate Relations and Business Development and other Agilent colleagues, Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Huo visited the CNCL facility in the afternoon of March 14, 2012, and received a warm reception by Mr. Jianjun Cheng, Mr. Jing Hou and Dr. Ming-Wei Wang. Following an introduction relative to the history, development and prospect of CNCL by Dr. Wang, Mr. Sullivan expressed his great pleasure to make such a visit. He briefly discussed the recent developments of Agilent both in China and globally, as well as its future growth strategies. "Agilent pays tremendous attention and attaches significant importance to the potential and growth trend of Chinese pharmaceutical industry. I hope to strengthen bilateral cooperation and jointly promote drug discovery and development, for the advancement of sciences and betterment of human health", said Mr. Sullivan.
On behalf of Academician Jian Ding, Professor Yang Ye, Deputy Director of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences warmly welcomed all the guests and offered his sincere congratulations to the collaboration set forth between CNCL and Agilent Technologies. Dr. Ming-Wei Wang and Mr. Feng Huo signed the collaboration agreement. In the name of Agilent Technologies, Mr. Huo donated a variety of scientific equipment and laboratory consumables to CNCL.
